NOTICE OF PUBLIC TESTS, VOTING SYSTEM EXHIBITION, DIAGRAM OF BALLOT, VOTING INSTRUCTIONS, AND BALLOT PREPARATION AND COUNTING OF BALLOTS FOR THE MAY 4, 2021 SCHOOL ELECTION: Preparation and counting of ballots cast for the May 4, 2021 School Election (Lake County, MT) will be begin Tuesday, May 4th at 4 pm in the Large Conference Room at the Lake County Courthouse |(106 4th Ave E, Polson, MT 59860). Results will not be released until after 8:00 pm on Election Day. Observers must check in with the election office (Rm 121) to be escorted to the counting location. Montana law requires that any person participating or observing the procedures of the count is required to take an oath that they will not discuss the results of the early counting of votes at any time prior to the closing of the polls on Election Day. A person who knowingly violates this law shall be imprisoned for a term not to exceed two years and/or be find an amount not less than $100,000 and not more than $500,000. The following events are open to the public and will occur at the Lake County Courthouse (106 4th Ave E, Polson, MT 59860) for the above election: Public testing of the ExpressVote and DS-450 voting system will be held at 9:00 am on April 30th in the large conference room at the courthouse. Provisional ballots will be tabulated at 3:10 pm on May 10th in the election office. Please note that the county's voting systems are on public exhibition at the Lake County Election Office from April 14, 2021 through May 4, 2021. INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO VOTE ON AN EXPRESSVOTE VOTING SYSTEM The ExpressVote is a ballot-marking system that is available for anyone to use during the upcoming election. Its main purpose is to allow voters with disabilities and other special needs to mark a ballot privately and independently. If you wish to vote on the ExpressVote, please inform the election judge that you wish to do so. The election judge will issue you a ballot card that will be inserted into the ballot feed tray on the front of the machine. After the system accepts the ballot, the system will display instructions and the ballot choices. The following helpful options are available: (a) change contrast and font size for readability, (b) audio headphones, (c) braille keypad, (d) connection for Sip n Puff personal device. You can make your selections by using the touch-screen capability, or by using the keypad, which features written and braille markings. After you have completed your selections, the ExpressVote will confirm your selections on the screen, and by audio. After verifying your selections, the ExpressVote will mark and print your ballot. The ballot will then be returned to the election judge.
