TO ALL WHO VALUE FREEDOM: The Lake County Cemetery District, the American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Polson encourage all citizens to attend the Memorial Day Program at the Lake View Cemetery in Polson. This event will occur approximately twenty minutes after the Memorial Day Parade, which begins at noon in Polson. Please attend and show your respect and gratitude for our veterans. We would also like to inform the public that the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars will not be placing crosses and flags on individual grave sites in the Lake View Cemetery this year. The limited number of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars volunteers no longer allows them to place the crosses and flags on all eligible veteran graves. Memorial Day commemorates all veterans, and memorial flags and crosses will be displayed on Common Grounds at Lakeview Cemetery. The cemetery will begin removing items not contained in the headstone on June 10th, when mowing commences. Mountain View Cemetery in Ronan will have flags and crosses placed on individual graves as has been done in the past.
