MONTANA Department of Transportation US 93 Ninepipe Corridor Feasibility Study The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is developing a study of the US Highway 93 Ninepipe corridor to evaluate the feasibility of the preferred alternative identified in the 2008 environmental documentation. The 4.5-mile study corridor extends from Gunlock Road to Brooke Lane near the Ninepipe and Kicking Horse Reservoirs. 2008 environmental documentation identified a preferred alternative and determined that it would greatly improve traffic flow for vehicles and pedestrians and the connectivity and safety of the roadway. This study will consider potential impacts to cultural and natural resources including wetlands and wildife, construction costs, and constructability challenges that may affect the feasibility of the preferred alternative. The study is a collaborative process between MDT, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes (CSKT). resource agencies, stakeholders, and the public. MDT is hosting virtual open house meetings to provide an overview of the study process and summarize the initial findings. Attendees can expect a brief slideshow presentation followed by a question-and-answer session and the opportunity to provide comments. The virtual event will be held Zoom on Monday.
