About
WIC is the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children.
This federal public health program is designed to improve health outcomes and influence lifetime nutrition and health behaviors in a targeted, at-risk population.
WIC’s goal is to improve health by informing families about good health practices and by providing nutritious foods to eligible participants.
Every year, hundreds of women, infants, and children receive health screenings, nutrition assessments, and health education from the Tribal Health WIC Program.
Tribal Health WIC Program provides vouchers to purchase nutritional food.
Breastfeeding support is provided by a certified lactation counselor to assist women with issues or concerns. Tribal Health’s WIC Program also provides breast pumps for qualified participants.
Tribal Health WIC staff work with recipients and provide referrals as needed for other services.
Persons wishing to apply for WIC must contact the Tribal Health WIC Program to set up an appointment. Please call 406-745-3525 and ask for the WIC program to learn more about documentation that will be required when you meet with WIC Program staff.
