Lower Flathead Valley Community Foundation "Neighbors Helping Neighbors" Dear full time and part time residents of the Flathead Indian Reservation: For over 20 years, an opportunity to make a positive impact on your community has existed The Lower Flathead Valley Community Foundation (LFVCF) is seeking additional contributions from people who love this valley and want to see continued success for its local residents. LFVCF was established in 1999 from the Verna Jensen Estate. Vera was a long time Polson resident. Thanks to the counsel of Don Olsson Jr., attorney Phil Grainey and local philanthropist Bill Edelman, her estate established the LFVCE. The mission of the Foundation is three fold: focusing on the needs of children of the Reservation, promoting cross cultural communication and activities of diverse communities and supporting environmental health and restoration efforts within our service area. Since its formation the LFVCF Board has provided grants of more than 1.6 million dollars to non-profit organizations and activities on the Reservation (the geographical boundary of our giving) from endowments and investments. The annual total in grants is up to $100,000. Some examples of non-profit organizations and activities of the LFVCF has funded over the years: Boys and Girls Club, local library summer reading programs, infrastructure grants to the Arlee Senior Citizen, the Ronan Library, Leon Hall, sporting events for kids, the reintroduction of Trumpeter Swans in partnership with the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes, and many more worthwhile projects. A list of projects and programs funded by the LCVCF can be found at Ifvcf@lfvcf.com. As you enjoy this beautiful place as your home or home away from home, please consider The Lower Flathead Valley Community Foundation as part of your eventual estate plan or as an annual contribution. If Vera Jenson was alive today she would be delighted at the impact her estate has made to enrich the lives on the Flathead Indian Reservation. All contributions to the permanent endowment are held in perpetuity. Only the income can be granted. There are no administrative fees for contributions to the permanent endowment. Montana has an Endowment Tax Credit which is a onetime tax credit that promotes giving to endowments. It is primarily intended for a planned gift that significantly reduces the tax liability of the donor. Please be a good neighbor and help the LFVCF sustain a healthy and vibrant community well into the future.
